Valid Forms of I.D - Customer Identification Program (CIP)

What are the Valid Forms of ID that are Acceptable to Submit for the Customer Identification Program (CIP)?

The following is a list of the documents currently accepted for identity verification.
 
Please log in to your profile for information on the specific documents that you are required to submit to complete verification.
 
You can upload the documents by following the below steps:
 
•    Log in to your profile.
•    Follow the instructions on the splash, select Option 1 or Option 2
•    Based on your selected option, begin the upload process by selecting the ID type from the dropdown menu.
•    Then submit your documents for review.

The following is a list of the documents currently accepted for identity verification.
 
Government-Issued Photo IDs
All documents must be unexpired and completely legible:
•    U.S. State- or Territory-Issued Driver's License (Must not be a paper temporary driver’s license)
•    U.S. State- or Territory-Issued Identification Card (Must not be a paper temporary State ID card)
•    Passport (U.S.- or Foreign-Issued) with signature
•    Passport Card (U.S. issued)
•    U.S. Permanent Resident Card
•    U.S. Employment Authorization Card
•    Certificate of U.S. Naturalization or U.S. Citizenship (Only if issued within the last 5 years)
•    Tribal-Issued Photo ID (Must be issued by a federally recognized Tribal entity)
•    United States Travel Visa (Student Visa)
•    Mexican Consular Card
 
Current Proof of Social Security Number 
•    Social Security Card 
A W2 from the most recent tax year, received from an employer, may be submitted in lieu of Social Security Card, but only if it shows full name, address, full Social Security Number, and employer’s name and address.
 
Tax Return forms such as 1040 and 1040-A are NOT accepted as proof of SSN
 
Current Proof of Physical Address
The primary address on your account profile must be your residential address (no PO Box).
All Proof of Address documents must show your name and residential address and may not be handwritten.
 
The following types of documents must be dated within the last 90 days:
•    Bank Statement or Student Loan Statement
•    Medical Bill from a Doctor, Hospital, Lab or Medical Facility
•    Mortgage Statement
•    Utility Bill (addressed to the student)
•    Insurance Bill or Official Policy Statement (Notifications and solicitations not accepted)
•    Credit Card Statement 
•    College/University Acceptance Letter
 
The following types of documents do not require a date stamp in the last 90 days:
•    The BMTX mailer received at your physical address (Return address and school name or logo must be visible)
•    Selective Service letter or copy of the Selective Service card
•    Tax Form W2 for most recent tax year showing your name, physical address, and employer’s name and address
•    Financial Aid Award Letter from the school for the current semester
•    Property Tax Bill dated within the last 12 months
•    Unexpired Government-Issued ID (with matching physical address)
•    Tuition and Fee Bill/Statement from the school
 
Proof of Date of Birth
•    Official Birth Certificate. (Hospital birth certificates are not valid)
•    Court-ordered Adoption Certificate (showing name and birth date)
 
Images of paper documents such as Social Security cards and Official Birth Certificates showing a watermark such as “COPY” or “VOID” are acceptable. 
 
BMTX reserves the right to reject any document submitted if it does not meet our standards for image quality or validity.
